Bainbridge Island, Washington
I have not been to Nantucket, but this feels like Nantucket of the North. After becoming a Pickleball player and fan of the fastest growing sport in America, I wanted to go to Bainbridge Island to visit the birthplace of the game. Bainbridge Island is so charming, so chill, and so full of fun places to explore!
With all of the boys away at camps this week, we decided to challenge ourselves and take a roadtrip in the Tesla. After our first stop at Mount Rainier National Park and having to drive North for a Super Charger in Federal Way, we arrived onto the Island. We posted up for the night at the Inn at Pleasant Beach and loved the location!
And we loved taking a walk around the Sound and finding new friends and pickleball courts.
We spent a little time EV charging hunting and found a few normal wattage dedicated charing areas, but they only get 3 miles per hour. It was a good exercise, however, we were worried about getting towed, so we gave up after a few extra miles. Therefore, we decided to change plans today, and passed on going to Olympic National Park. We switched gears, requested a late check-out and set out for a orning hike at Fort Ward Trail and walked down to South Beach. During our walk, we heard noises of a strange animal, and discovered a Mama Beaver and her babies, actually called Kits, walking down to the water. And we made friends with a local dog walker … she was walking 10 dogs!
We drove into Downton and walked around the Bainbridge Island Waterfront. As we were checking out the quaint downtown area, we happened upon a store called Dana’s Show House. Apparently, I am trending on Bainbridge Island!
And how lucky am I that there is a NPS Unit on the Island? I highly recommend visiting Minidoka National Historic Site-Bainbridge Island Unit. The park is beautiful, powerful, and sobering.
And lastly, we paid homage to the birthplace of Pickleball at Battle Point Park at the Founders Courts.
