Siletz Bay National Wildlife Refuge

The wild Fox-Gloves were popping at the Siletz Bay National Wildlife Refuge. So fun to see the beauty of the bay from the eastern view point. And so thankful to the legendary John D. Gray for donating the property to protect this wild and scenic territory.

Interesting to learn from encyclopedia.com … “The name Siletz (pronounced SIGH-lets) comes from the name of the river on which the Siletz tribe lived. The origin of the name is unknown. The Siletz people called themselves Se-la-gees, meaning “crooked river.” They were also called Tsä Shnádsh amím. And their language was called Salishan.
