Lassen Volcanic National Park

We attempted to visit Lassen Volcanic National Park in May, 2022 and were greeted with a snowstorm 12 miles outside the park. I am so glad we waited cause we would not have been able to climb to the very top of the park at 8,500 feet to see so much beauty!

We spent hours in the park exploring from Manzanita Lake to hiking to the other worldly Frying Pan sulfur gardens. Th

“Lassen Volcanic National Park is home to steaming fumaroles, meadows freckled with wildflowers, clear mountain lakes, and numerous volcanoes. Jagged peaks tell the story of its eruptive past while hot water continues to shape the land.”

And then we climbed up, up, and up to 8,500 feet! We admired King’s Creek, the dazzling blue waters of Helen Lake and hiked the Bumpass Hell Trail to the sulfer fields and the Frying Pan. Nature was shinning today!

Love this hand-painted van! The owner told us it was his life’s work. “Wish, Believe, Dream and BLISS!”

One of the magnificent places on the planet and only a few brave souls dared to adventure to these heights on a hot day.

After exciting the park in the late afternoon and enjoying a tasty meal in Chester, CA, we drove 5+ hours to Mammoth Lakes … where I was finally able to place my NPS Stamps into my beloved NPS Passport book. Mission complete for the day!
