Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve
At Ebey’s Landing, the beauty of farm land nestled up to the sea is something to see indeed! We took a quick walk along the very large round rock beach with ample drift wood about and loved the contrast of yellow flowers to the gray beach.
“This stunning landscape on the Salish Sea, with its rich farmland and promising seaport, lured the earliest American pioneers north of the Columbia River to Ebey’s Landing. Today Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve preserves the historical, agricultural and cultural traditions of both Native and Euro-American – while offering spectacular opportunities for recreation.”
And a huge hilgith was seeing an extremely rare white deer. It was such a sight to see, when I passed it I knew I had to turn around and take a snap. Only 1 in 20,00 deer are white. And I am so glad that I prioritized getting my IPhone 13 PRO before this trip because the zoom camera really helped me capture the beauty.
Deer that have brown eyes but with a white coat are referred to as “white” or leucistic deer. The mechanism for producing eye pigments is different than in albinos, so the eyes are not affected. Both white and albino deer are the result of different genes that affect different body processes.
