Big Island, Hawaii

This is really a love letter to the Big Island in Hawaii. It has been one of my touchstones for decades as my greater family has been going here for years. My boys grew up spending New Years here for their entire lives. This sadly is our last year as my parents sold their condo, so Troy and I took our families to say goodbye.

These are the huts at the entrance to Waikaloa that I walk to most mornings when I am here. I came to say goodbye to one of my favorite spots.

And I finally toured the petroglyphs, not once but twice … and I had never been here before. I love exploring out in nature!

There is so much beauty in Hawaii!

I loved going back to Pu'uhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park to explore and get my official stamp. Then join the family over at two-step!

We loved encountering so many turtles on our many beach hikes!

And big thanks to Uncle Troy for scheduling an e-bike ride for us at the very green and beautiful Parker Ranch!

We adventured up to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and I finally hiked the crater!

And of course we fit in lots of beach time!

And that’s a wrap! We love the Big Island and we hope to be back another day BUT with my goal of doing all of the National Park Service Units, plus seeing as much of the world as possible, I am not sure when that day will come. We will always have ALOHA in our hearts!
