Turks & Caicos

We loved celebrating Happy New Years in the Turks & Caicos! My brother Troy chose the destination after he searched for “beautiful beaches and e-foiling” and the island delivered on all that and more. Every day was an adventure and we made many amazing memories. We explored the many beautiful beaches of Providenciales, walked all of Grace Bay, ventured by boat to North Caicos where we rode ATVs, visited a sugar cane farm, and had a delicious lunch beachside at Lovey’s Beach, hosted by the legendary Lovey himself. And many of us e-foiled, parasailed, and wake-boarded. It was a super fun family excursion and the water is breath-taking at every turn.

Our travel day started with a red-eye from Portland to Atlanta. We meet our Bellingham crew for breakfast at Paschal’s in Concourse B. We had three gate changes and our flight was delayed, but we thankfully found a home at the American Express Delta lounge. We landed at PLS and the airport is super quaint and reminded me of Kona in the early days. There were two big American planes and only four private planes. We arrived at our condos in the Leeward Settlement, grabbed some drinks and headed to Mr. Groopers for dinner.

Our day #1 we started with e-foiling with FLY TCI and walked the beautiful beach.

On Day #2 we walked Grace Bay Beach and went to Bight Beach for the afternoon.

Great pizza and salads at Osteria!

Delicious fish tacos and frozen margaritas at Skull Rock Cantina

On Day #3 we set out for adventure again and took the kids parasailing at Sibonne Beach, which they loved. In the afternoon, we went back to the beach to e-foil and got home in time to catch the sunset on our rooftop deck.

On Day #4 we set out on our big boating adventure and had so much fun! We started off snorkeling at a beautiful reef, then it was off to North Caicos to ride ATVs, visit a sugarcane farm, and enjoy lunch at Lovey’s beach. I managed to smash my toes into a picnic table foot, but the complimentary rum punch helped me feel better. On our way back, we stopped at Iguana Island where there are tons of iguanas … and we had a Spike Lee sighting also! And the last stop was to Noah’s Ark for some libations. I stayed behind with my foot on ice, but some brave souls went into to town to celebrate New Years and to enjoy the local Junkaloo celebration.

On Day #5 I said HNY 2025! We had a lazy morning and late breakfast. Then we set out to explore to Northwest Point National Park Beach to hunt for conch shells.

On Day #6: the weather turned on us and we had a rainy tropical down pour kind of day. But that did not stop us from going out on the water for some wake surfing! We started at the Blue Haven Marina, took a field trip to go see the shipwreck, and then everyone took turns jumping in the water and catching some waves.

On Day #7 we opted to go on a beach horseback ride. It was Celia’s first time on a horse and it was super fun to ride in the water!

And sadly Day #8 was our last day and we had to say goodbye to the Turks & Caicos. I am already excited to come back and to explore more!
