January 2024 & New Year's Resolutions

January will be remembered for its epic ice storms that uprooted trees, frozen pipes, and handed out power outages with wild abandon with no wifi. We are lucky to have a generator that kept us warm. We broke out the Rummy Cube, some puzzles, and a lot of patience in-between freezing rain storms that kept us housebound for over a week.

After the thaw, I was able to fly south for a few days to celebrate my parents’s 47th wedding anniversary in La Quinta. Hopefully, we will make it a new annual tradition! The weather was 76 and Sunny and I acquired some more shoes that will make future travels very comfortable.

And we enjoyed watching Sam’s Bowling Team!

My resolutions for this year are …

  1. FOCUS ON HEALTH and embrace the Blue Zone Lifestyle. My mantra everyday is “Movement, Community, Laughter, and Moderation”!!! I am also making a big move and eliminating sugar from my diet, so goodbye to the vino for now … and bring on the skinny margarita! And I am excited to celebrate another milestone … in September 2024, I will be four years cancer-free.

  2. SHARE MORE LOVE with family and Friends and prioritize those relationships. Last year I had the opportunity to travel a lot, as the result of many adventures pushed out due to Cancer and COVID, plus a few more added on. I love to travel, but my youngest son Sam wants me home with him. This is his time and I love to spend time with him. Also, Bo’s Dad is now in a memory care facility, so we cancelled a few bigger trips and will be spending more time with family in Florida. It is his time and Bo wants to spend it with his Dad.

  3. MAKE MEMORIES one moment at a time with the ones I love.

  4. STRETCH INTO NEW TERRITORY by sharing my Field Trips near and far, launching Dana’s List which showcases where I want to travel in the world, and starting to use Threads. Little by little and bit by bit, I am hoping to share the joy of my Adventures in Nature!

And here are some of my favorite photos from Januarys of the past …
