Sedona, Arizona

Lucky me, I won a raffle prize to Sedona, Arizona from the boys high school auction! And one of my besties lives in Phoenix, so we planed an adventure to Red Rock Country. And we loved every moment in the vortex!

We stayed at the wonderfully located SkyRock Sedona, which is a newly acquired Marriott Bonvoy property). I loved participating in their nightly Moon Ceremony!

We had a beyond delicious meal at Elote! We ordered a whole bunch of appetizers. I recommend ordering the Elote - Fire roasted corn with spicy mayo, lime and cotija cheese and the Sweet Corn Bisque - Huitlacoche and white truffle crema. And their margaritas are some of the best I’ve ever tasted!

We love to hike! A friend of JJ’s recommended the Huckaby Trail and we loved every moment!

We had lunch at Mariposa Latin Inspired Grill and enjoyed the beautiful views. I highly recommend at the Rock Shrimp Salad!

After our big day of hiking, afternoon napping, and another Moon Ceremony, we went to Stagecoach for dinner. I recommend ordering many small plates to taste the menu. Our favorites were Portabella Mushroom Fries Smoked Deviled Eggs, Loaded Wedge Salad, and a Loaded Gun Board of Smoked baby back ribs, pulled pork, andouille sausage, pickles, onions, pickled jalapeños, and grilled flat bread .

In the morning, we opted for the Vortex hike by the hotel and it was a wonderfully spiritual way to start the day indeed!

We bid adieu to Danny and jounted into town to tour about. After some shopping at ALT Books and Records, we had pizza and a salad at Oak Creek Brewery and Grill. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a few beverages. While we were winding down our meal, a family stopped by and inquired if I was Ms. Christie. At first JJ and I were confused and they then told us they saw us at Elote on Friday night and have been convinced all weekend that Gwendoline Christie was in Sedona. I sadly had to share with them that I was not her and do not sport her beautiful accent, nor her height. I had told JJ that people have been making that association while I’ve been traveling, but it is another thing to experience it in real life. We will laugh about that for a long time. It is fun having my short blonde hair … which I can now say might be aa highlight of my cancer!
