Antarctica Travel Essentials

When I was planning to travel to Antarctica, I searched for an essentials travel list. I did find a few that were helpful but there are still lots of unknown. That said, I wanted to share mine if it would be of interest to others when traveling to the Ice Continent.

First, I totally recommend traveling with a carry-on and not check baggage on the way down. At the recommendation from my travel companion Kelly who loves to do travel research, I purchased the following essentials:

Away’s The Bigger Carry-On and I love its design with inner compression system, 360-degree wheels, and that it fits perfectly in the overhead cabinets. It is designed to “Pack it all in! Our suitcase is designed to fit more into your trip. The inside has two compartments with an interior compression system to help pack more in—one designed for your clothes, the other for items like shoes and toiletries. Plus, its lightweight yet durable polycarbonate shell lets you pack (and protect) even more.”

For my carry-on, I purchased the ALL-NEW PRVKE Wandrd 31-Litre Pack. It was recommended that we bring a waterproof pack for our zodiac boat rides and landings. This bag has it all and more. Highlights include “Quick Draw Side Access, Customizable Camera Protection, Interior Organization, Clamshell Opening, Laptop Sleeve, Tablet Sleeve, Weather Resistant, All-Black Interior For All Colors, Interior Color Matches Exterior Color, Hidden Passport Pocket, Water Bottle Holder.” I adore all of the thoughtful pockets, dedicated padded tech section, and the expandable storage at the top, It is now my go-to travel carry-on.

The next item is the HiBag Compression Bags for Travel. There are 12-Travel bags included and they are magical traveling essential items. I packed my clothes by theme … City, Expeditions, and Chillaxin and then I stacked them all into my Away Carry-On.

Note: Yes, this does go against my plastic policy … But these bags are amazing! They compress super easily and make packing a dream. I have used them multiple times now and they are durable and will last for many years. And then I can recycle them with Ridwell if they ever falter.
