It was a total treat to see the sea lions chilaxin on the rock at McVay Rock State Recreation Site. Mak and I took the trail down to the beach and watched the big guys bask in the sun. I am loving my new zoom lens so I can get up close to nature.

Explore more at stateparks.oregon.gov … McVay is a well-hidden park noted for surf fishing, clamming, whale watching, and plenty of space to walk on the beach. The large lawn has a nine-hole disc golf course overlooking the ocean.

The park is elevated above the ocean.  As you walk along the edge, you'll often have eye-to-eye encounters with the seabirds catching the updrafts from the beach.  A steep, rocky path leads to the beach.
