George Washington Memorial Parkway

Sam and I were thrilled when we finally found the George Washington Memorial Parkway Visitors Center … because they have 36+ NPS Stamps!!! It was a treasure trove and we had so much fun stamping all of the blue stamps for the Mid-Atlantic Region and the red stamps for the National Capital Region. We were giddy! And it almost didn’t happen as the road was marked closed into the entrance, just past the Police Station … and I did not want to explore illegally. Sam encouraged me to call them and the wonderfully welcoming NPS Ranger encouraged us to walk in to stamps our hearts out … and that is exactly what we did! Sam is becoming a very smart and experienced wingman and traveller. I am so happy to be making so many fun memories with him.

While living in DC, I travelled on the George Washington Memorial Parkway numerous times, never knowing that it was a NPS Unit.
