Cesar Chavez National Monument
We pulled into the parking lot and were the only car there. We toured the museum, soaked up so much history and then walked the beautiful grounds. Upon our departure, two other groups arrived to tour. Both groups Hispanic and I can only think they were visiting to pay their respects to someone that forged a path for so many rights and freedoms. One group was all men, and perhaps workers, and the other a family. It was an honor to be there with them celebrating Cesar Chavez.
And I loved touring this unit with Mak. I love watching his mind open up and his thirst for learning grow. Knowledge is power when you want to change the world. And he bought a book and a t-shirt in the gift shop … so he is officially outfitted to spread the good word.
“It is my deepest belief that only by living our lives do we find life.” — Cesar Estrada Chavez
Today was indeed a day of inward reflection on the strength of humanity and the pursuit of justice and equality.
