July 2023

July was a whirlwind of a month!

We started it at Neskowin for the 4th of July and it is no secret that that is our family’s favorite holiday for kids of all ages!

Then I spent two weeks on the East Coast enjoying nature and many NPS Units!. On July 14th we arrived arrived in Boston with big dreams of seeing as much as possible. After we dropped Ryder off at College Prepatory Camp at Landmark College, Sam and I started our adventure. We explored in 12 states, drove over 3,300 miles for 67+ hours of driving, survived one leaky tire and one official flat on another tire, visited 53 National Park Units with 44 New and 9 Revisits, ate delicious foods in every state, visited with many friends, and learned a lot of life lessons along the way.

My favorite Life Lesson of the trip was that when things go wrong, they sometimes make for the best memories. Our flat tire in Auburn, NY was just that! We drove over something that sliced the tire open. Then we had to wait 3 hours for a two truck and our car rental company could not get a driver to pick us up … so we rode with the tow truck to the airport and laughed the entire way. By the end of the night we had a new car, were safe and sound in our hotel, and still laughing about our fun and adventurous day. Sam is a great traveler and I am so lucky to be able to spend this time with him.
