Louisiana

I first visited Louisiana with Jemes for a weekend of food, hurricanes, and fun … and boy did New Orleans deliver! The Big Easy is one of my favorite cities with deep history and deep traditions. And the food is so delicious!

My second trip was to attend the weddings of my family friend Douglas Green. He and Gupa had a traditional Indian Wedding one one day with the blowing of the conch shell and a vegetarian meal. Then the next day was a big blowout All-American super wedding reception with dancing and a full bar. A big memorable moment of this trip was when we were antique shopping, Troy’s girlfriend Cynthia found a beautiful simple ring at a store on Royal Street. Soon we were all in cahoots finding a way to get back to the store, before it closed on Saturday (as it would not open again until Tuesday, when we not staying until then). to secure it for their engagement ring. I am happy to share she still wears it today, now along with her wedding ring, two kids and many rescue dogs later.

There are not a ton of photos from my early excursions as it was still the hand-held camera-era … and that is probably a good thing!

I am excited to take Mak there when he is officially of age.
